Investors are increasingly demanding more transparency around corporate political activities and how they are governed. This trend has emerged amid growing investor concern about the harmful influences that corporate lobbying can have on the climate policy agenda, recognizing the crucial role that robust climate regulations play in de-risking investments in the net zero transition.
Despite calls for transparent reporting on climate-related corporate lobbying, the publication of companies’ advocacy positions and activities remains the exception, not the norm. Existing disclosures are often fragmented and do not transparently communicate the full scope of influence that reporting companies have on the climate policy environment, falling short of investor and other key stakeholders’ expectations.
To help companies engage in effective climate advocacy, the UN Global Compact Network UK is organizing a 4-part webinar series. This series will provide practical guidance on how companies can contribute towards driving the regulatory outcomes needed to deliver on their net zero goals.
InfluenceMap's Executive Director Dylan Tanner will join the fourth webinar in the series. The webinar will explore how the climate advocacy disclosures landscape is evolving and take stock of the guidance available to help companies transparently report on their climate-related policy engagement activities. It will highlight the steps that businesses can take to improve their reporting practices in order to meet investor, customer, and employee expectations, as well as avoid legal and reputational risks.
