Japan Climate Initiative (JCI) is supporting greater action within Japan to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to below 2°C. JCI supports efforts to transition to a low-carbon energy sector with decreased reliance on coal and oil, as stated in their public comment to METI’s consultation on long term strategy for Paris agreement in May 2019. In the same consultation, JCI also suggested the need for increased government support for renewable energy.
