The Association of the French Cement Industry (SFIC) appear to have mixed engagement with climate policies and regulations. In France they have supported environmental national legislation (Grenelle I), acknowledged and showed support for COP21, and welcomed the use of alternative fuels in the cement industry. At an EU level consultation documents suggest they have opposed ambitious EU ETS reforms, stressing carbon leakage concerns to oppose the market stability reserve and cross sectoral correction factor. They have however supported both reducing the number of free allowances in the ETS scheme and renewable energy targets for the power generation sector. SFIC is a member of CEMBUREAU, which has strongly opposed ambitious EU ETS reforms and energy efficiency regulations at an EU level.
