The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) is actively and positively lobbying US climate change legislation. SEIA recognizes the urgent need to act on climate change and stated its support for US President Barrack Obama's climate action plan in 2013, as well as the signing of the UN Climate Treaty in 2016. SEIA appears to have supported various climate regulation proposals the US, including emissions trading and energy efficiency legislation. SEIA has actively supported the US Clean Power Plan through consultations with the US Environmental Protection Agency in 2014, as well as through intervening legally in support of the plan in 2015 and 2016. SEIA appears to specifically support US renewable energy legislation. It has petitioned policy makers to oppose anti-distributive solar legislation in Kentucky and Florida, whilst supporting renewable legislation in states such as Ohio, California, New York, as well as state-level policy such as a solar investment tax credit and renewable provisions in the Clean Power Plan. SEIA strongly advocates for the decarbonization the power sector through the increased proliferation of solar energy technology.
