Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) is actively lobbying all strands of US climate change policy with significant positive support. AEE is a prominent supporter of the Clean Power Plan, advocating to raise the plan's ambition in 2014-15 consultations, and taking legal action to defend the legislation and oppose attempts to delay its introduction. AEE also strongly supported California's 2030 GHG emissions target of 40%. AEE also lobbied policymakers to support renewable energy legislation including renewable production and investment tax credits and pro-distributive solar generation policies in 2014-15. Furthermore, AEE has communicated support for multiple state renewable portfolio standards, including in 2016-17 consultation responses on New York’s Clean Energy Standard, of which AEE appears to have played a crucial role in facilitating the Solar Progress Partnership, a coalition helping to pass the legislation. Evidence further suggests AEE supports emission trading, both in California and as part of the Clean Power Plan. AEE consistently promotes a low-carbon transition, directly advocating to policymakers throughout 2014-16 in consultations to support both a low-carbon energy mix and the expansion of infrastructure to electrify transport. In 2017 AEE directly advocated to policymakers in support of the expansion of renewable energy in the US power mix, to reject measures to support increased subsidies for coal and nuclear and also co-sponsored a Californian bill to increase electric vehicle subsidies.
