CNI does not generally appear to be supportive of climate change policy. They appear to emphasize economic considerations in relation to GHG emissions targets, as well as climate change by advocating weaker Brazilian Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) in 2014. Likewise, although in 2014 they appear to have stated support for a transition to a low carbon economy, they also appear to have advocated for an increased role for shale gas and a sustained role for coal in the energy mix. They do, however, appear to support emissions trading and renewable energy legislation generally.
